Shellfish Clam/Oyster Crew/Off Bottom Crew & Farm Hand

This is a Full-time position in quilcene, wa posted March 31, 2021.

Rock Point Oyster Company is seeking responsible individuals to join our oyster harvesting, clam digging crew and off bottom crews.

This job is working on the tide flats following the tides in all sorts of weather day and or night depending on the time of the year and is a physically demanding job.

The wages are piecework and hourly.

This is a full-time position.

Must have reliable transportation.

OYSTER CREW: This position is a combination of hourly, $14.00 hr for the first 2 months then to $15.00 and piece work is .70 cents a doz.

as long as they are quality and correct count.

Hourly is going out on the boats pulling product, oyster seed bags, spreading seed at our different farms, and loading the boat with seed.

Working as a team on the dock putting orders together for bulk oyster harvest then breaking clusters and bagging them, shipping and delivery.

Doing beach work that can be cleaning, putting in pallets at the dock, scow poles, etc.

Upland maintenance working with tools, making bags for product, cleaning boats, painting hulls on the boats, landscape maintenance (not too much).

Some if not all of these things are done with the tides.

Piecework picking and breaking oyster clusters, bagging and buoying them up on any of our tidelands.

This is paid by the dozen, oysters you pick normal is 10 dozen in a bag of a certain size.

Each tide a list of what each person needs to pick is given and needs to be filled.

It is then checked with every pull at the dock to make sure they are quality bags of size and Doz amount.

You might pick anywhere from 100 Doz to 300+ Doz in a tide and we can go out on 4 to 5 times in a week depending on the season.

But keep in mind the times of the tides change every day and in the winter, they are night tides.

Start time can be at 10:00 pm till 3:00 am and back to work at 8:00 am for 4 hours.

It changes constantly but a schedule is made a week in advance so you can plan your week for your personal appointments.

This job is very hard work and physical with a lot of repetitive bending and lifting.

But good money and working outdoors in an absolutely beautiful environment CLAM CREW: We need someone long term.

The only reason this is a full-time job even though it is 20 to 30 hours a week, we work with the tides that change daily within the 24-hour day!

In the winter the low tides are all in the middle of the night in all kinds of weather.

This is also an hourly and piece work job, the hourly starts at $14.00 an hour the piece work (Digging Clams) is $15.00 for a 32# to a 33# bucket of clams.

The hourly work is helping the oyster crew around the farm and out at our other farms putting up long lines and things like beach cleanup.

OFF BOTTOM CREW: Work on tidelands at all Rock Point farms.

Work schedules are at all times of the day and night depending on the tides.

Maintain flip bag, trays, and baskets.

Sort oyster manually or by machine.

Process and bag new oyster seed.

Pressure wash bags, trays, and baskets.

Work on special projects as assigned on the tidelands and uplands.

This is an hourly job starting at $15 per hour.
