Special Education Paraeducator (Multiple Openings) Ocean Beach SD

This is a Contract position in Long Beach, WA posted July 12, 2021.

We are recruiting for several Special Education Paraeducators to serve Ocean Beach school district for the 2021-22 school year. These positions are school year schedule:26 hrs/wk, Options Academy and Long Beach Elementary27.5 hrs/wk, Options Academy32.5 hrs/wk, Long Beach Elementary12.5 hrs/wk, Ocean Park Elementary32.5 hrs/wk, Ocean Park Elementary34.5 hrs/wk, Ocean Park ElementaryGeneral ResponsibilitiesReporting directly to the Special Education Teacher, the Special Education Paraeducator is responsible for supporting and assisting students with disabilities in various school settings. The Special Education Paraeducator, consistent with the individual education plan (IEP) or individual family service plan (IFSP) assists the Special Education Teacher with lesson plan preparation; one-on-one and small group instruction; classroom management; student observation and assessment; and communication with parents and staff.Essential Functions:Assist the Special Education Teacher, consistent with IEP or IFSP goals, in lesson plan preparation; one-on-one & small group instruction; classroom management; student observation & assessment; communication with parents and staff, in a variety of school settings.Supervise students.Collect data and report student progress.Maintain accurate data collection records.Communicate with staff and parents as instructed by the Special Education Teacher.Provide positive behavior management support, consistent with the IEP or IFSP.Attend to the physical needs of students, including moving and positioning students & assisting with personal hygiene needs.Participate in staff meetings, inservice programs, workshops and seminars.Participate as a member of the education team. May attend parent conferences.Minimum/Preferred Qualifications & SkillsMinimum Qualifications:A high school diploma or GED.Must meet one of the following educational requirements:Associate’s Degree; OR48 sem./72 quarter credits from an accredited college or university; ORPassing score of 461 on the ParaPro Assessment. Preferred Qualifications:Experience in a special education classroom setting.Knowledge of programs and services for students with disabilities.Working Conditions/Employment RequirementsWorking Conditions:Classroom setting, may move from classroom to classroom to provide services.Provide assistance and attend to the physical needs of students including moving and positioning students and assisting with personal hygiene needs, including but not limited to: tube feeding, catheterization, changing diapers, toileting.Sit, stand, and stoop to attend to student’s needs & to provide instruction.Regular attendance during assigned work schedule.Travel within ESD 112 region for meetings and trainings.Employment Requirements:Successful completion of a criminal history and fingerprint check through the Washington State Patrol and FBI.Within three years of employment meet Washington State Core Competencies for paraeducators as defined in WAC 392-172A-02090 (f).Educational Service District 112 is an Equal Opportunity Employer
