Position: Team Lead- Ross Plant Location: Selah, WA Job Id: 1132 # of Openings: 2 SUMMARY: To maximize production of Drum Dry products which meet customer specifications while managing the Drum Dry operations and crew. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Other duties may be assigned. All of the following are to be performed while adhering to Tree Top operational policies, safety rules, procedures and good manufacturing practices. It is the responsibility of every employee at Tree Top Inc. to report food safety and food quality problems or risks to personnel with the authority to initiate action against these said possible risks. The Organization chart indicated key personnel with the authority to take action. This is a representative sample–not to imply a complete listing of all responsibilities and tasks. Weekly Start-Up Ensure equipment is clean and ready to run Monitor condition of sweco screens; notify Maintenance if screens are torn Check production schedule Check specification sheets Check pick list for correct boxes and bags Verify labeling information with Lab Tech Operate Drum Dryers Operate Drum Dryers, augers, Sweco, Flaker, Fitzmill and connecting equipment at maximum efficiency Ensure product is within customer specifications Monitor Drum Dry process and crew to ensure process needs are met Set up equipment according to production needs Adjust sauce pressure to ensure proper application onto drums Troubleshoot drying, granulation, or other operational problems Adjust speed of drums to produce maximum product while maintaining quality levels Adjust nozzles to maintain proper flow of sauce Adjust air pressure to cool sheets of product Unplug nozzles, augers, Flaker, and Fitzmill as required Administer nitrogen to apple flakes Adjust liquid nitrogen application to aid in milling and case temperature requirements Process rework product as needed Communicate Effectively Coordinate with Saucemaker to ensure sauce meets process needs and customer specifications Lead crew and delegate job tasks to crew members; ensure cooperation and follow-through Exchange information with Drum Dry Assistant, Lab Tech, Saucemaker, Supervisor, and crew Notify Mechanics to make repairs as needed Notify Lab Techs of any foreign material Make stencil and get approval from Lab Techs and Supervisor Update Supervisor with process information as necessary Hold brief meetings to correct ongoing problem(s) Exchange information with last/next Team Leader at shift change Train new and temporary employees Ensure Quality of Product Verify customer specifications per product Verify that correct moisture levels are being produced Check Sulfite levels to ensure appropriate levels are maintained Check bulk density (Bostwick) and brix levels of sauce Notify Lab Techs of any foreign materials Monitor Drum Dry Process Monitor Drum Dry process, equipment, and crew to ensure customer needs are met Ensure that all pallets are coded to Tree Top and customer specifications Make all necessary adjustments to produce maximum thru-puts while maintaining quality levels Maintain GMPs Organize crews to perform both ongoing and week-ending sanitation duties Delegate specific tasks to crew members Ensure cleaning procedures are followed in proper sequence Train/monitor crew in use of proper cleaning/sanitizing chemical-handling procedures and equipment Maintain a clean work area; keep floors swept, brooms, squeegees, etc.; in proper place; empty trash cans/bins as needed Utilize cleaning tools properly, i.e. hoses water, etc. Empty product waste containers and debris as needed Eliminate spillage and wasted product Perform clean-up procedures as required Inspect conveyor system to comply with GMPs and ensure a smooth process flow Adhere to GMP standards throughout the entire plant Ensure Food Safety by Following HACCP (Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points) Maintain personal cleanliness, wash hands frequently, wear hairnet, wear sanitary gloves Do not store chemicals too close to food products Avoid spilling oil or cleaning fluids on food products Avoid cross-contamination Follow color code policy Follow proper procedures, practices, training Verify correct ingredients are being used Do not use contaminated raw materials Be familiar with all process flow diagrams Know all critical control points in all processes; i.e. metal detection Sort out foreign material; i.e. wood, stickers, plastic, etc. Perform Weekly Sanitation Wash equipment Disassemble equipment as required Coordinate CIP process with Saucemaker Reassemble equipment Guide Saucemaker in clean-up process Use cleaning/sanitizing chemicals as needed Complete Paperwork Accurately Prepare manifest tickets for finished products including moisture and Sulfite specifications Complete raw material usage report; i.e. stearate, Sulfite, boxes, and bags Complete production sheet; i.e. lot and item numbers, number of cases per pallet, weight, moisture, Sulfite, and storage area Record all variances completely and accurately on shift variance report (Swing Shift) Prepare checklist of completed tasks during clean-up on Fridays when required Operate Computer Operate AS-400 computer software program to perform data entry Operate Forklift Conform to appropriate safety standards while operating forklift Maintain adequate supplies of boxes, bags, etc. Stretch-wrap pallets Store finished product in warehouse Remove full bins of rework and waste from area as necessary Wear seat belt at all times Lock-Out Tag-Out Make sure to have a complete and clear understanding of all Lock-Out Tag-Out procedures Use proper Lock-Out Tag-Out procedures at all times (washing/cleaning machinery, etc.) Fiber Process Duties Collect Samples for granulation test and moisture Record all results to grade sheet and summary report Save three samples of product per shift for vacuum oven testing Collect sample for micro analysis Verify that item number and case numbers are correct Monitor metal detectors, scales, magnets, and product temperature hourly Complete metal detector/magnet forms Complete HACCP foreign material(s) forms Notify Supervisor if foreign material is found; document Ensure that Lab equipment is operating/functioning properly Save a sample for “retained’ sample Enter edits and usage into AS-400 computer system Other duties as needed QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Forklift Certification. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to lead, coach, and direct crew to meet process and production objectives. Communicate effectively to accomplish on-the-job training programs. Lead by example.
