Test Engineer/Test Specialist

Responsibilities

The Test Engineer will support the further development of an Authoritative Data Environment for the Department of the Navy Client. Primary responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Performs analysis of documented user requirements and directs or assists in the design of test plans in support of those requirements for complex software/hardware applications.
  • Reviews user application system requirements documentation;
  • Designs, defines and documents unit and application test plans;
  • Transforms test plans into test scripts and executes those scripts.
  • May participate in all phases of risk management assessment and software/hardware development under the direction of a Senior Test Engineer.
  • Ensuring proper execution of test scripts and documentation of test results in test logs or defect tracking systems.
  • Ensuring that the test designs and documentation support all applicable client, agency or industry standards, timelines and budgets.
  • Responsible for the development of test data to be used in performing the required tests.
  • Ensures conclusions and recommendations are fully supported by test results, and managers are fully informed of testing status and any deviations from documented user requirements.
  • Assists in the analysis of test results, document, conclusions and makes recommendations as supported by such analysis.
  • Work with both the Agile and Waterfall methodologies and be a part of multiple Scrum teams as needed to support the project.

Qualifications

Required

 

  • 3+ years of experience with Experience with Inbound/Outbound Interface files and database validation.
  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a Computer Science or related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, training or work experience.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance required to start

 

Preferred:

  • Working Knowledge and experience with the Navy’s MPT&E personnel systems.
  • Ability to clearly and concisely describe in written form, software problems and anomalies.
  • CA DevTest programming and implementation
  • Serena Dimensions configuration management and release management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite of Products

Desired

  • Certified Tester, Foundation Level (CTFL), ASTQB
  • Direct understanding Navy-HR MPT&E business processing.
  • Oracle database and the PL/SQL programming language to develop queries, view, and packages as needed.
  • Understanding Serena Dimensions or version control and release management systems
  • Experience is any of the following:
    • AWS Cloud Services
    • CA DevTest
    • Tableau
    • Axon
    • API testing
