– IP Obstetrics Hours: Variable Per Diem/On-call as needed Experienced Surgical Technologists who specialize in labor and delivery are being recruited for our new Birth Center opening at Virginia Mason Seattle in the summer of 2020.

The state of the art Birth Center is a joint venture between Virginia Mason and CHI Franciscan. The 20,000 square-foot birth center will combine CHI Franciscan’s regional leadership in personalized obstetric care with Virginia Mason’s focus on quality and innovation.

The Virginia Mason Birth Center will be located at the Floyd & Delores Jones Pavilion at Virginia Mason.

Located on Level 16, the new facility will offer panoramic views of the city, the mountains and Puget Sound.

The new Birth Center will include:t * 6 post
– partum beds; 3 labor and delivery rooms; 2 bay OB triage area with 1-2 ORs, and 5 Level II Nursery Beds; plus an option for patients to access a labor tub, and have a water birth tt Family provided doulas will be welcome and unit will accommodate presence of siblings.t As a Surgical Technologist you are an integral part of the medical practitioner team, providing surgical care to patients to facilitate safe and effective completion of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.

You may assist with instrumentation in vaginal deliveries, perform stocking duties, scheduling procedures, and assist with ensuring the department is compliant with environment of care requirements.

The Surgical Technologist will be accountable for utilizing and keeping current on the application of sterile and aseptic technique, surgical procedures, implementation tools and technologies, human anatomy as well as collaborating and communicating effectively with the inter-disciplinary team to facilitate a physician’s performance of invasive and therapeutic procedures. QUALIFICATIONS: Completionof an accredited Surgical Technologist program. A minimum of six months operating room work experiencethat demonstrates attainment of the requisite job knowledge skills/abilities ispreferred.

Currentregistration with the State of Washington as a Surgical Technician.

Current healthcare provider BLS Certification.

Ahigh school diploma or GED is required for this position.

Abilityto take night and/or weekend call required. Aworking knowledge of anatomy and physiology, and working knowledge of pharmacologyand medical terminology. Understandingof instrumentation and equipment, and skill in establishing and maintaining asterile field and in draping a patient. Excellentcommunication skills a must. Abilityto act as a member of the team and to anticipate the needs of a surgeon andpatient essential. Mustbe able to operate effectively in emergency and stressful situations.

Abilityto independently lift up to 20 pounds, grasping and manual dexterity requiredto hand and/or finger items frequently (sometimes continuously). Mustbe able to maintain a retracted position for up to one hour. Clearvisual and auditory acuity with or without accommodation required to performthe essential functions of the job.
