VP of Technology Development

This is a Full-time position in Redmond, WA posted May 15, 2021.

The Role: Company is hiring a Vice President of Technology Development out of our Redmond, WA office.

The VP of Technology Development will report directly to the COO.

This role will lead the electronic hardware, RF design and wireless systems engineering teams, setting strategy to take this game-changing wireless power platform from technology phase to commercialization, including guiding the next generation product roadmap.

This high impact role will guide the internal hardware design and systems engineering functions, while partnering closely with external partners/customers to lead integration of the technology into their end-user products.

Responsibilities include:
Hands-on lead and manage all hardware development and systems engineering efforts at Company, for both internal projects (RDKs) and joint development projects (PoCs, pilots, etc.).

Work closely with Senior Leadership team on setting company objectives, communicating status and recommending directions.

Develop strategic plans for the direction and control of multiple parallel product development streams.

Improve engineering processes, in coordination with software and test teams, with the goal of creating a learning organization.

Work closely with Product Management and Business Development teams.

Manage requirements and scope, while delivering results to our customers.

Motivate and grow staff by providing technical direction and guidance.

When necessary, be a player-coach in the role of manager, mentor, and resource.

Scope overall engineering project efforts and timelines.

Work closely with Program Management to meet milestones for internal and external projects.

Execute and influence the technical roadmap, ensuring products launch on time with quality, performance, and features.

Formulate long-term objectives, standards, tools, and processes for the department.

Guide sustaining engineering and life cycle management, with direct responsibility for all hardware product issues associated with shipping products.

Develop efficient and high-yield manufacturing test processes, and quickly resolve production issues.

Evangelize our products and company internally and externally.

Requirements
10 years leading product development at electronics manufacturers in consumer products, wireless, telecom or related industries.

Managing and delivering complex hardware and systems projects on time and with excellent quality.

Wireless system engineering product design experience and depth working with telecom or radar systems preferred.

Team leadership experience of 10+ engineers, with proven ability to recruit and motivate top talent.

Demonstrated capability as a senior leader taking technologies from concept phase through development into volume production.

Out-of-the-box thinker who finds ways to make teams and projects successful, managing innovative product risk, while balancing resources for on-time deliverables.

Strong relationship management, strategy development, project management, problem solving and change management skills.

Broadly tech savvy, high professionalism, strong sense of business ethics and approachability.

Strong foundation of engineering competency, with a passion for excellence.

Demonstrated product passion with outstanding communication skills and commitment to taking game-changing technology to market.

Previous startup experience, guiding through rapid growth cycles.

BS EE, ECE or equivalent technical field required, MS preferred.
