UW Medical Center-Montlake’s Food & Nutrition Services has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time (40 hours per week), day shift, FOOD SERVICE WORKER 2 (LEAD).

The Food & Nutrition Services Department aims to improve the health of the community by linking evidence-based nutrition to the healthy foods we serve and to the education we provide staff, patients and the community.

SCHEDULE Monday to Friday from 6am to 2:30pm RESPONSIBILITIES+ Under the direct supervision of the Food Service Supervisor, prepare and serve items for cafeteria meal services.+ Ensure food is handled safely and presented attractively.+ Maintain sanitation standards in the work area.+ Actively contribute to team process and maintain cooperative work environment.+ Work to improve quality of food and services provided to customers.+ Lead the serving of customers on the hot food line and the grill at all times.+ Promotes positive public relations and helps create a relaxing, enjoyable environment.+ Carry out responsibilities in an efficient, friendly, helpful and sensitive manner+ Take cash payment for meals+ Heat and dish hot foods for Late Evening Meal Service+ Grill Items for early breakfast service+ Request routine repairs+ Work independently 95% of the time+ Lead food service workers in operation of a remote food service area such as a snack bar counter, ice creamery, or soda fountain+ Participate directly in food preparation and serving; Maintain quality and portion control and ensure use of standardized recipes and formulae+ Prepare and serve specialty drinks hot or cold+ Other duties as assigned by Supervisor REQUIREMENTS Possession of, or eligible for, a food handler’s permit AND one year of experience in quantity or institutional food preparation and serving or equivalent education/experience.
