The Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs is pleased to announce the recruitment for a Food Service Worker.

This job is located in Spokane, WA.

**This position works part time with Wednesday and Thursday off.

WDVA operates four veterans’ homes in Port Orchard, Orting, Spokane, and Walla Walla providing Medicare and Medicaid nursing care for honorably discharged veterans, to include, in some instances, their spouses, widows or gold star parents.

Duties **_Some of what you will be doing: _** This position, under the supervision of the Dietary Manager, distributes food in a safe and sanitary manner to ensure the nutritional needs of the residents at the Washington Soldiers Home are met.

**_Key Responsibilities:_** Assist with preparation and service of food to the population of the Washington Soldiers Home.

Assist with the sanitation and safety responsibilities associated with the meal service and production process.

Push and pull carts to deliver meals and equipment to needed areas throughout the facility.

Qualifications **_Required Qualifications: _** Must have a current Washington State Food Handler’s Card.

**_Preferred Qualifications_** Knowledge of safe food handling practices and sanitation standards, good personal hygiene, safety precautions, care and use of kitchen utensils and equipment.

Twelve (12) months experience in a food service setting.

Supplemental Information **_CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:_** Prior to a new hire, a background check including criminal record history will be conducted.

A criminal background check is required every two years.

Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant’s suitability and competence to perform in the position.

Must comply with health screening requirements by undergoing a tuberculosis skin test annually.
