Position DescriptionPosition OverviewInspects, repairs, and maintains crusher.

Performs skilled mechanical diagnosis, maintenance, and repair work on the plant.

Uses hand tools, power tools, hoists, cranes, welding equipment, measuring, and testing equipment.

Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment, using electrical and electronic test equipment.

Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunctions and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problems or repair machines.

Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts, following specifications using precision measuring instruments and hand tools.

Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery, using rags, brushes, and grease gun.

Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)Plant MechanicAnalyzes malfunctions and repairs, rebuilds, and maintains plants.Operates and inspects machines and equipment to diagnose defects.Dismantles and reassembles equipment using hoists, hand tools and power tools.Examines parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges.Replaces defective parts, assembles and sub-assembles as needed.Tests overhauled equipment to ensure operating efficiency (must be able to operate all equipment).Welds broken parts and structural members using cutting torch and welding equipment.May direct workers engaged in cleaning parts and assisting with assembly and disassembly of equipment.Demonstrates skills in basic fabricationServices and greases plant parts (i.e.

changing belts, greasing bearings and maintaining cleanliness of plants.Orders and maintains inventory of plants parts, grease, asphalt oil, etc.Communicates and receives direction for dispatch, drivers, operators and customers in person, via telephone and via radio.Performs recording keeping of time and parts used on appropriate forms.Perform general cleaning of work areas and maintenance areas.Assists other maintenance department staff in performing the duties necessary to assure the efficiency of operations of the plants.Crusher Operator:Maintain crusher plant operations to ensure timely productionMonitor gauges, dials and operation of machinery Perform safety inspections and run routine staff safety meetingsCoordinate production and loading of aggregateCommunicate and receive directions from team members Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education/ExperienceHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.Previous construction related experience highly preferred.

Knowledge/Skill RequirementsWill need to join Operators Local 302Must have a valid drivers license.

Must pass a pre-employment physical screen and controlled substance testing.

Use of machines, tools, equipment; mechanics hand tools, power tools, welding and cutting equipment, lubricating tools, hoists, cranes, man lift, measuring and testing equipment, computers, laser alignment tools, blue prints, service truck.
