Title: Advanced Special Operations Techniques Course Instructor Location : Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM), WA SR# 2020-0179 PURPOSE: The Advanced Special Operations Techniques (ASOT) Instructor will present instruction to support Special Operations Forces (SOF) missions. United States Army John F. Kennedy Center Special Warfare Center and School (USAJFKSWCS) delivers education with adaptive and confident instructors who display the character, competence, and commitment required to instruct, teach, train, assess, mentor evaluate, and facilitate learning to develop trusted SOF personnel. USAJFKSWCS instructors are those who transform learners from passive receptors of information to collaborators in the educational process and allow the student to tailor their learning experience. The instructors display and demonstrate all the key SOF instructor competencies. These include professionalism in terms of their mentoring, ethical, and legal behaviors. DUTIES: The successful candidate’s job tasks include but are not limited to: * Conduct research, develop lesson plans, generate training aids, and administer courseware in support of Special Operations Forces (SOF) missions * Plan and coordinate course schedules and daily learning activities with instructors, external offices, training providers, and other stakeholders * Liaise with relevant civilian and military officials * Design, orchestrate, and administer practical exercises and Field Training Exercises in rural and urban CONUS environments to reinforce and develop student knowledge, skill, and judgment * Provide iterative hands-on instruction, coaching, and mentoring * Be responsible for safeguarding all Government property and classified documents provided for use and at the close of each work period REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Must hold and maintain a SECRET clearance * Minimum five years of Special Operations experience (10+ preferred) * Graduate of ASOTC and Special Forces Qualifications Course (or sister branch equivalent qualification course) * Relevant experience with this skill set in support of USSOCOM missions in hostile, denied, or politically sensitive environments. * Successfully complete(ed) a recognized DoD Instructor Training Course (ITC) * Previous instructor experience including knowledge of and skilled in the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) approved Systems Approach to Training (SAT). Must be familiar with training and governing policies and procedures as they pertain to ASOT programs within USSOCOM * Familiar with most recent regulations and doctrine governing ASOT * Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary to convey challenging nuances in the subject matter * Ability to work effectively both individually and as part of a team * Demonstrated management skills and the ability to multitask efficiently and effectively * Must be able to read, write, and understand English, and speak clearly to instruct, evaluate, and counsel trainees in the subtle and difficult concepts of subject matter * Must be able to use Microsoft Office products to support course curriculum development and updates to Lesson Plans * Must be able to travel to various CONUS locations as required * Must be able to walk five miles a day over rugged terrain in hot, cold, or inclement weather conditions and maintain a high degree of physical fitness. * Must have a valid driver’s license and able to drive contract provided vehicles.
