Elementary School Art Teacher, DigiPen Academy Homeschool Program

This is a Full-time position in Redmond, WA posted April 10, 2021.

DigiPen Academys K12 Department is seeking experienced, reliable, and engaging teaching staff to join our team of educators.

In this position, you will work with homeschool students in grades K-12 to provide a tailored educational experience that meets each students unique learning goals.A teaching certificate is NOT requiredFlexible hours and holidays offCan teach one or multiple classes to suit their scheduleFor the 2020/2021 school year, all classes will be taught ONLINE ONLYEssential Functions / Goals* Plan, prepare and teach weekly lesson plans on art and art history that meet the educational needs and abilities of a group of students* Provide instruction on the use of media such as graphite, charcoal, acrylic, watercolor, pastels, and clay* Utilize a wide variety of teaching methods to create differentiated learning opportunities* Help homeschooling families and students achieve their educational goals* Provide a classroom experience that is encouraging, and positive* Communicate well with students, faculty, and parents* Responsive and able to adapt quickly in the classroom* Provide clear weekly email communication to students and their families* Proficient in written and spoken English* Use a range of IT tools to accomplish tasksQualifications / Competencies* At least 2 years of teaching experience teaching art to lower elementary students* Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts* Demonstrated excellence in a variety of artistic techniques and mediums* Excellent organization and communication skills with attention to details* Adapts to widely varied needs* Analyzes complex situations* Client Focus: Ensures continued service excellence* Manages the use of resources* Understands and uses formal organizational structures and processes* Fosters teamworkExperience LevelPrefer at least 3 years of teaching experience working with young students of varying ages and abilities.

Portfolio of artwork or link to personal website showcasing work MUST be included with application.Working conditionsMay require staff training outside of teaching hours.

The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, and/or crouching; and significant fine finger dexterity.

May need to lift up to 25 lbs.

Generally, the job requires 80% standing, 10% sitting, and 10% walking.
