Position: Payroll/Benefits Officer

Work Location: Nine Mile Falls School District Office

Nature and Scope of Position:

Process payroll and manage benefits in accordance with policies, procedures, laws,

requirements, and guidelines of various agencies and collective bargaining agreements.

Position includes ESSER fiscal coordination, time and effort assistance, and bargaining

for the district.

Position Reports To: Claire Olson, Director of Business

Classification: Non-Represented

Work Day/Work Year: Mon – Fri – 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. for a 260-day annual contract

Salary: $28.00 – $34.00 per hour DOE Benefits: Per Schedule

Primary Job Functions (See complete Job Description for additional details)

  • Verify and update payroll records for all designated district employees
  • Process leaves, cash outs, employee payroll, and payroll vendor payables
  • Calculate contract amounts, additional pay, adjustments, and annual HR budget

projections

  • Assist with the onboarding of new district employees with focus on Frontline,

payroll processes, and benefits

  • Monitor clock hours and experience for district employees
  • Manage district benefits acting as the liaison between district employees and

outside vendors

  • Serve on the bargaining team for labor contract negotiations, developing

proposals, soliciting input, and sharing interpretation of collective bargaining

agreements for all district bargaining units

  • Manage time and effort coordination for designated district employees
  • Work closely with Director of Business and Superintendent with ESSER fiscal

coordination

  • Perform other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient

and effective functioning of the district

Education and Experience:

  • AA in Business Administration or Communications preferred

o A combination of college course work, technical training, and related

work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree

  • Three (3) years of payroll experience, with preference given to school payroll

experience

Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required

  • Knowledge and practical application of basic accounting functions, processes, and

procedures

  • Strong typing and 10-key skills
  • Possess sound emotional judgement and ability to think clearly and quickly
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to multi-task and work with frequent interruptions without direct

supervision

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers,

other district staff, administration, students, and the public

  • Knowledge of proper English grammar and spelling in both oral and written

communication and reading comprehension

  • Understanding of school laws, policies, and procedures, preferred
  • Advanced computer experience with knowledge of and/or willingness to train for

Skyward/RDS, Frontline, Absence Management, and Time & Attendance

  • Ability to operate standard office equipment

Requirements

  • WSP/FBI fingerprint background check
  • Washington State Sexual Misconduct Release form
  • Authorization and Release of Information form relating to prior employment
  • Willingness to work additional hours as needed

Working Environment

  • The usual and customary methods of performing the job functions require the

physical demands of occasional lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling, and

significant fine finger dexterity

  • Generally, the job requires sitting, walking, and standing
  • The position is generally performed in a clean and healthy environment with the

occasional exposure to outside weather situations
