NOOKSACK VALLEY SCHOOL DISTRICTANNOUNCEMENT OF PROFESSIONAL OPPORTUNITYELEMENTARY SCHOOLSPECIAL EDUCATION PRESCHOOL TEACHER2020-2021 SCHOOL YEAR.6 FTE General DescriptionThe special education teacher holds a position of working in collaboration with regular staff to meet the needs of students with disabilities in PRESCHOOL.

Special education teachers shall design and implement lesson plans for the purpose of creating/developing a program that meets individual education plan goals and objectives.

Excellent organizational skills are required to maintain diagnostic and test data; monitor student progress; maintain and update student records, class lists, attendance, and other required records and student information.

The special education teacher shall provide direction to assigned educational assistants and other support staff.

This is a .6 FTE position only.

Professional Qualifications, Responsibilities, Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree and valid Washington State teaching certification with P-3 Early Childhood Special Education endorsement required.Previous experience teaching special education at a preschool and/or elementary school level and/or a strong desire to teach special education preferredCompletion of a recognized Special Education Program requiredGood organizational and training skills; demonstrated ability to work as a member of an effective teamAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships and communication with students, parents, staff, administrators, and the publicGood organizational and training skillsBilingual encouraged (Spanish)Knowledge and ability to implement effective instructional and behavioral techniques in the classroom environmentCollaborate effectively with teachers regarding classroom management and modifications of teaching/learning strategiesUnderstand cultural contexts in a multicultural society, demonstrate fairness, equity, and sensitivity to every student and advocate for equitable access to instructional programs and activitiesOther duties as assigned SALARY & BENEFITSThe salary range is based upon the 2020-2021 state salary scheduleA variety of benefits are offered in accordance with the SEBB/Health Care Authority Posting Date: December 03, 2020Closing Date: open until filled with initial review December 11, 2020 Application ProceduresNooksack Valley School District NVEA members must submit a letter of interest by 4:00 p.m.
