The ideal driver is someone who is driven to maintain safety regulations and above and beyond customer service.The Driver reports directly to the Yard Manager and interacts daily with customers, dispatchers, receivers and load-builders.Duties and ResponsibilitiesTasks:Safely and efficiently load and unload building materials from commercial motor vehicleLegally, safely and efficiently travel to destinations through public and private roadsComplete mileage and fuel usage reportsDemonstrates commitment to on time and in full deliveriesLearns and uses route planning and optimizationFollow delivery procedures by taking photos of delivered shipment after completing each deliveryPerform daily pre-trip and post trip inspections of all equipmentEstablish and maintain professional relationships with customers, contractors and vendorsPerform required safety audit of vehicle (daily safety audits, weekly brake inspections) and promptly report any malfunctioning equipment as required by Federal and state regulations and company policyPromptly report all accidents/incidentsAnnually update driver’s qualification file as required by Federal and state regulations and company policyMaintain yard, warehouse and vehicle cleanliness during course of workFinds productive work to do in down timeKeeps truck supplied, organized, and cleanComes to work professionally attiredChecks load for accuracyProactively manages job site conditions for next delivery and communicates with othersJob Knowledge:Completes required new hire trainingAlways provides required paperwork and scanning for dispatchSeeks to learn products and their application for the end usersLearns and follows established best practicesLearns from mistakes and accepts coaching as opportunitiesDemonstrates legal and thorough knowledge of tie down rules and regsUnderstands weight, height, and length limitsEnsures that all material transported on the truck has either an invoice or Material Returns FormContinues to learn from other’s mistakesQualificationsQualificationsHigh school diploma or GED equivalentClass B CDL or higher (air-brake endorsement preferred)Current DOT Medical CardAcceptable driving recordOSHA Certified Forklift LicenseKnowledge of vehicle safety audits and reports of any malfunctioning equipment as required by Federal and state regulations and company policyAbility to manage time and routes for a streamlined delivery experienceOpen and transparent communicationFamiliarity with GPS devices or map applicationsDriving experience within 50-mile radius of primary location preferredInterpersonal SkillsAbility to work cordially, professionally, diplomatically and with a high level of customer service in a dynamic environmentDemonstrate sound judgment in dealing with
