Ready-Mix Truck Driver ($1000 Sign-On Bonus) – Interstate Concrete & Asphalt (Elk, WA) – 267900 Washington

Position OverviewOperates ready mix trucks safely and professionally in the plant yard, on public highways/roads, and at various job sites to deliver products. Deliveries will be made in both commercial and residential areas. This position may occasionally drive a truck equipped with a dump body (solo, dump, pup) to transport and dump materials such as sand, gravel, crushed rock, or asphalt. Upon successful completion of the pre-employment process, a sign-on bonus of $1000 will be provided.* Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)Ready Mix Driver (90%)Operate equipment safely and efficiently by utilizing equipment within its designed parameters.Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspection of vehicle to ensure safe operational order and report maintenance or repair issues.Be able to ingress and egress truck by navigating 2 steps with grab bars present.Be able to manipulate truck steering wheel (power steering), shifter and other various levers and knobs necessary for operation of truck and associated equipment.Operate ready-mix concrete truck to deliver to construction sites, as specified, safely and efficiently, obeying applicable laws and following dispatch instructions.May add materials (fiber, color or other additives) to concrete mixEnsure quality of product delivered, slump, etc.Maintain communication with Dispatcher as necessary regarding deliveries. Check delivery tickets for special instructions and complete as required.Ensure proper materials are loaded safely, and obtain proper signatures as required.Rinse out drum and chutes, and dump slurry as required by established procedures.Collect money from customers and record transactions on customer receipt.Inform customers of new products or services. Listen to and communicate or resolve service complaints.Respond to customer questions related to basic product knowledge and basic concrete construction techniques. Tactfully inform customer of concrete working methods and improper forms as appropriate.Monitor various gauges during operation of vehicle, investigate abnormalities and perform operator maintenance and minor field repairs.Record sales and delivery information.Maintain operator logs, forms and records in accordance with company policy and Department of Transportation regulations.Routinely assist other members of the work force in different areas of production.Take action to avoid potential hazards or obstructions.Other tasks and duties as assigned to meet business needs.Regular and timely attendance.Participate in and promote an inclusive work environment. Dump Truck Driver (10%)Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspection of vehicle to ensure safe operational order and report maintenance or repair issues.Operate trucks to deliver materials to construction and customer sites safely and efficiently. Obey applicable laws and follow dispatch instructions. Be familiar with tag, tongue reach, tailgate position and location of levers and switches.Pull levers to tilt body and dump contents. Shovel material as required. Set spreader chains when applicable.Check delivery tickets for special instructions and complete prior to arriving on the job. When loading, ensure proper materials are loaded safely. Obtain proper signatures as required. Deliver construction materials to jobsites at instructed. Ensure proper entry of on-the-job information on customer delivery invoices.Monitor various gauges during operation of vehicle. Investigate abnormalities. Complete written report of problems or necessary repairs and forward to maintenance personnel. Detect and report improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials, and unusual conditions to shop personnel. Perform operator maintenance and minor field repairs (i.e. mud flaps and mirror adjustments).Move material as necessary in the performance of the job or as directed.Maintain vehicle in a clean an orderly condition, inside and out. Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations. Assist in keeping employees room clean.Maintain operator logs, time cards, mileage sheets, vehicle repair sheets, and records in accordance with company policy and departmental transportation regulations. Use computer for Zonar and Trackit.May operate a front-end loader or rollerMay assist members of the work force in other areas of production, including shoveling materials on grade and pave projects, running plant loader, operating roller, driving water truck, etc.Perform other related duties as required or directed whenever necessary. Before loading, make sure tailgate is latched. Keep sideboards, trailer tongues and back of truck free of all materials. *Details of sign-on bonus to be discussed at time of job offer.Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/ExperienceHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.Two years general driving experience in a commercial or construction setting highly preferred. Certificates, License, RegistrationsClass A CDL required and current DOT medical card.
