Business Analysis Manager, International Retail and Global Channel Development – Seattle or Remote

Job Summary and Mission

Starbucks International Licensed Stores is a strategic business unit that plays a key role in advancing our enterprise Growth at Scale Agenda by supporting the streamlining of our activities, expanding our global reach, and building the brand. Today, Starbucks serves customers in 83 markets across the globe where 90% of those are operated as licensed markets. With our business partners, we collectively operate over 10,000 stores and employ more than 120,000 employees who work as Baristas and represent our brand. This means that nearly one in three Starbucks stores is an international licensed store and one in four baristas is employed by our licensees.

As a Business Analysis Manager for International Retail and Global Channel Development, you will play a key role in supporting this strategy by driving analysis, project management, and appropriate governance to key initiatives that support licensed markets in Latin America, EMEA, and Asia Pacific. This role is a unique position that touches multiple areas of the international retail business, from standards and compliance governance to systems implementations to business planning. Key responsibilities include supporting global initiatives with financial modeling and business cases, owning delivery and governance of critical global technology platforms, and working with cross-functional leaders to coordinate and develop operational plans as well as key support deliverables. This role partners closely with the International Business Operations team and is critical to enabling the efficient, profitable growth of one of the largest and fastest-growing businesses at Starbucks.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following.

As a Business Analysis Manager, you will:

Lead financial analysis – Conduct ad hoc analyses to support critical business decisions. Lead analyses of net present value (NPV), return on investment (ROI) and profit loss (P&L). Conduct research, creates financial models, and defines appropriate financial measures. Quantify opportunities and risk and recommends alternatives. Work with cross-functional teams to set targets, develop plans, conduct analyses, measure results and improve processes. Provide strategic and tactical recommendations to senior management.

Drive project management: Lead project teams and subteams to develop and implement new programs and process improvements. Ensure that multiple projects meet specified timelines and deliver expected results. Manage and monitors project or program schedules, progress, and costs to ensure that expected results are delivered on time and within budget. Maintain, adjust and update project plans as needed. Consolidate, communicate and ensure resolution of all issues. May develop and collect performance metrics. – Represent business unit, department or functional area on cross-functional project teams. Provides functional expertise to assess potential financial and operational impact.

Own global technology platforms: Define processes and governance that enable the system to be used efficiently across all parties. Manage roadmap of deployments, including requirements gathering and prioritization recommendation to leaders. Manage day to day activities such as issue resolution, user access, etc.

  • Conducts complex analyses to support critical business decisions. Leads financial analysis for determining net present value (NPV), return on investment (ROI), internal rate of return (IRR) and profit loss (P&L). Quantifies opportunities and risks and recommends alternatives. Provides strategic and tactical recommendations to senior management.
  • Develops innovative approaches to complex problems and situations. Conducts research including external benchmarking and utilizes statistical tools and scenario analysis to guide sound financial business decisions
  • Communicates complex financial information and concepts to both financial and business leaders to support and influence decision making
  • Provides coaching, direction and leadership to team members in order to achieve business results.
  • Reviews new business proposals, identifies issues, risks, and opportunities. Executes financial due diligence and explains ramifications of findings and recommendations for project progress.
  • Works with cross-functional teams to set targets and deadlines, develop plans, conduct analyses, measure results and improve processes. Consults with senior management to present data, propose solutions and identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Requirement gathering and analysis (3+ years)
  • MBA Strongly preferred

  • Ability to apply knowledge of multidisciplinary business principles and practices to achieve successful outcomes in cross-functional projects and activities
