DSHS WSH Substance Use Disorder Treatment Manager Here is a leadership opportunity for someone who wants to make a significant difference in the lives of individuals living with chronic mental health and substance use disorders.

 Western State Hospital is one of the largest psychiatric hospitals west of the Mississippi.

 A place, where important changes are being made daily, fulfilling a mission of promoting patient recovery and transforming lives.   We need a professional who is passionate and has a strong desire to do meaningful work that translates in transforming lives by improving treatment outcomes as a result of working with multidisciplinary teams and community partners to develop and deliver evidence based substance use disorder for patients who have complex needs.  Some of what you will do:* Collaborate with existing programs and disciplines to develop programs to deliver co-occurring SUD services to chronically mentally ill individuals;* Work with Behavioral Health Organizations and Community Liaisons to establish clear pathways to ensure continuity of care between the hospital and community based SUD programs;* Assist the Director or Treatment Services in the development of a Treatment Model based on SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration) Stages of Change and Dual Diagnosis Capability in Mental Health Services Toolkit;* Assist the Director of Treatment Services in allocating substance use disorder resources that includes assessing the need of each center in collaboration with rehabilitation supervisors and Center Director and allocating SUD (Substance Use Disorder) services accordingly;* Assure high standards of substance use disorder services/compliance with CMS/SIA, State Law and WAC;* Conducts SUD Program Evaluations and Clinical Quality Audits;* Provides and arranges for orientation and ongoing SUD staff clinical trainings.Here’s what we’re looking for:Knowledge* Three to five years experience in Mental Health and Substance Use, with at least 2 years of supervisory experience;* Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Addictions, Counseling or other Human Services field;* Current Washington State CDP licensure in good standing;* Crisis prevention training on hire and on-going.Skills and Abilities:* Must possess strong interpersonal skills and possess the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, clinical and non-clinical staff, supervisors and managers as well as staff in community organizations;* Must possess the ability to work alone and be able to accomplish patient goals without direct supervision;* Ability to understand and address patient and family expectations and provide excellence in care and service consistent with the organization’s mission, vision, values and behavioral standards;* Working knowledge of self-initiative to become knowledgeable of applicable local, state, and federal laws and accreditation standards as applicable to the role;* At least two years’ experience working in acute healthcare or psychiatric healthcare setting;* Ability to communicate with management, peers, patients, and the public;* Core understanding of psychiatric recovery principles, substance use disorder treatments and best practices, and best practices in dual diagnosis treatment;* Leadership and management skills and abilities, including sound judgment, independent problem-solving, decision making conflict resolution, time management, relationship skills, ability to lead others through modeling and provision of accurate and constructive feedback;* Working knowledge of WSH, DSHS, Federal and State policies, laws and standards relating to psychiatric hospitals;* Ability to work collaboratively and interact respectfully with diverse staff and patients to accomplish the hospital mission;* Computer skills (keyboard, Word, Outlook, Internet and Intranet, Visio).Questions about 01989?  Contact Joshua.Shawhan@dshs.wa.gov. Prior to a new hire, a background check including criminal record history may be conducted.
