Direct andsupervise all functions, duties and activities for the department. Support the day-to-day functions of the Floral operations. Communicate company, department, and job specific information to associates. Collaborate with associates and promote teamwork to help achieve company/store goals. Develop adequate scheduling to manage customer volume throughout hours of operation. Train and develop associates on performance of their job and participate in the performance appraisal process. Adhere to all local, state and federal laws, and company guidelines. Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store. Prepare corsages, flower arrangements, balloons to customer’s requests, and set-up displays and fixtures. Inspect and maintain plants by watering, trimming, cleaning and other care as required. Identify all varieties of foliage, blooms and fresh cut flowers. Order, label, stock and inventory department merchandise. Review/inspect products for quality and freshness and take appropriate action with those items. Provide customers with fresh products that they have ordered and the correct portion size/amount (or as close as possible to the amount ordered) to prevent shrink. Display a positive attitude. Monitor and control expenses for the department. Maintain an awareness of inventory/stocking conditions; note any discrepancies in inventory. Plan, organize and supervise the inventory process. Train department associates on inventory/stocking and Computer Assisted Ordering. Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained. Use all equipment in department such as refrigerators, stem cutter, baler, u-boats, and compactor according to company guidelines. Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identify unsafe conditions and notify store management. Practice preventive maintenance by properly inspecting equipment and notify appropriate department or store manager of any items in need of repair. Notify management of customer or employee accidents. Report all safety risk, or issues, and illegal activity, including: robbery, theft or fraud.
