You can optimize a release process that smoothly transitions the engineering work from an agile development team to a highly effective operations team.

You understand how to drill into data driven root cause analysis, and drive recommendations for future improvements to the release process.You will work with your peers in other disciplines to coordinate delivery of various components of on-prem and SaaS projects as well as strengthen the definition of release readiness.

As a result, you are at the heart of the development action every day.

As a leader for the delivery of a quality on-prem and SaaS product for customers, you will drive daily coordination of release management, testing, development, and reporting activities.

You will be the primary driver and key collaborator with other PMs and Development leads to set direction for architecture decisions as well as strategic changes that enable future feature delivery.

You see the success of your project team as your success.Responsibilities* Lead the development and enhancement of our operations, release management, and product development processes to provide increased operational efficiencies, meet or exceed success metrics, remove process friction, and deliver quality customer experiences.* As a subject matter expert for managing quarterly mainline releases, you will design best practices and influence, coach, and collaborate on best practice implementation with partners.* Be the primary representative for mainline Release Management in meetings, roadmap reviews, strategic decisions, functional spec reviews, architectural decisions, etc and provide oversight for large and complex project work, often spanning multiple teams or areas as needed* Collaborate with teams to research, identify, design, and develop tools to allow efficient configuration management, build, and release of software.* Serve as a change management champion for development and release processes, services creation, and architecture roadmaps to ensure proper best practices across Development teams.* Lead and coordinate the product launch activities including release readiness reviews, milestone reviews, shiproom meetings, and the execution of launch plans and checklists.* Coordinate and collaborate with operations teams to ensure continuous environment readiness, successful deployments, and high availability of dependent services across Development, Testing, Staging, and Production systems.* Own mainline release planning and execution for releases milestones ensuring cross functional coordination (developers, testers, designers, management) for the successful delivery of functionality.* Ensure run books, process implementation plans, and release schedules for all core services are up-to-date and aligns across key partners and vendors.* Develop a deep understanding of Tableau’s customers and business goals, and use this to ensure our teams’ work supports the product vision* Be an advocate of our customers; responsible to drive customer impacts and preferences into decision making and planning for development and operations.* Be an advocate of the product; responsible to drive evangelization of on-prem and Online capabilities and features to external customer facing events as necessary.* Able to identify execution issues that impede our product and team scaling, determine options to mitigate or solve, and propose actions to address those issues.* Participate, facilitate, and/or lead large or complex troubleshooting activities that require significant judgment and reasoning outside area of expertise* Communicate plans, status, and issues within Engineering and to Leadership teams.Knowledge and Skill Requirements* Proven Release Management process design and improvement experience.* Broad and deep expertise across Release Management, Project Management, Online Services Operations, and Online Development Technologies (experience with AWS a plus)* Skilled in providing deep technical oversight, developing new processes, and leading improvements on complex parts of our product and operational practices* Lead a multi-functional Engineering organization through a systems upgrade/deployment.* Ability to influence large teams* Strong coordination skills to drive daily touchpoints with stakeholders and partner teams for the facilitation of release readiness.* Experience with fast and agile release cycles.* Ability to multi-task, keep multiple threads in progress at a time, deal with conflict and drive to solution.* Ability to handle ambiguity effectively and exercise flexibility to quickly change priorities as needed.* Excellent communication skills; comfortable communicating in writing or presenting to stakeholders and/or senior leadership on topics from branch and environment health reporting to release status.* Strong analytical and problem solving skills.* Lead through influence over major technology decisions, while continuously innovating in collaboration with product development and operations teamsQualifications* BS degree in Computer Science, Product Management, or equivalent* 5 years experience in software release management (Saas industry experience a plus)* 8+ years experience in a program/product management role in the software industryWho you are…You love Data, you love telling story with data, you love creating interactive visual presentation of that data.
