Manager/Sr. Manager, Technical Operations

DescriptionZymeworks is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company dedicated to the discovery, development and commercialization of next-generation bispecific and multifunctional biotherapeutics.  Zymeworks’ suite of complementary therapeutic platforms and its fully-integrated drug development engine provide the flexibility and compatibility to precisely engineer and develop highly-differentiated product candidates.Zymeworks is seeking a Manager, Technical Operations to execute on Techncial Operations deliverables in support of Zymeworks’ development programs.

This position will be based in Seattle and will report to the Associate Director, Technical Operations. Key ResponsibilitiesWork collaboratively with TMO department to execute against development and commercialization plansProactively identify chemistry, manufacturing and controls (CMC) gaps and risks, and work with the teams and leadership to develop mitigation plansCoordinate internal timelines and priorities with the various TMO functionsWork closely with technical functions to enable execution of CMC validation activities at multiple external CDMOsCollaborate closely with CMC leadership and team members, to execute the external manufacturing strategiesTrack timelines and activities for development projects  in order to achieve key deliverables and progress toward milestones and regulatory filings in alignment with company goals.Help track Technical and Manufacturing Operations budgetsWork with TMO members, Legal, and Finance to facilitate movement of contracts through the review and approval processFoster strong relationships with team members and various department leads, supporting project-related communications and issue identification and managementMaintain program-related CMC-specific documentation, including program timelines and tracking mechanisms, for both internal and external activitiesQualifications and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in bioprocessing, a biological science discipline or equivalentA minimum of five (5) years’ related experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry with relevant experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)Direct experience working in a biopharmaceutical technical operations discipline with a working knowledge of biologics drug developmentAbility to work as part of a high performing team and collaborate effectively with staffMust have well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to establish highly functional relationships with diverse personalities both within and outside the companyAble to develop solutions to complex problems by employing ingenuity, creativity and innovationDomestic and international travel (~10%) as neededUnderstanding of basic scientific/technical concepts Strong oral and written communication skills, as well as strong organizational skillsWhy Work for Us?Zymeworks’ employees are passionate, engaged and extremely motivated to succeed.  We are excited by the cutting-edge science and technology, the endless possibilities this union holds and the sheer opportunity to be a part of something big.  To learn more about Zymeworks Inc.
