Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) Project Coordinator – Multimodal Learning

This is a Contract position in Ellensburg, WA posted December 9, 2020.

Job Summary This position has the responsibility for reviewing and processing student’s external credentials to confirm articulation and evaluation of potential transfer credit. Providing guidance and excellent customer service to students, faculty and staff on degree requirements, both requiring a high degree of academic and curriculum policy knowledge. The PLA (Prior Learning Assessment) Coordinator works directly with students to help identify potential PLA opportunities, communicates with department chairs, deans and faculty as necessary to determine the student’s eligibility, submits approvals to enrollment and records offices for processing, and helps to maintain data related to PLA credits. The PLA Coordinator often provides general information about PLA to prospective or non-degree students as well. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, or related field OR applicable combination of education and/or experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position Demonstrated experience with reviewing prior learning applicable courses, portfolios, and training records Demonstrated understanding of competency-based education and degree programs Proficient use of Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and other similar applications High-level data entry and attention to detail skills Demonstrated willingness and/or experience working with students and/or co-workers from a wide range of abilities, backgrounds, and experiences Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in Education Administration, Counseling, or related field Experience developing respectful relationships with adult and non-traditional learners Demonstrated experience with national credit reviewers such as ACE Credit, CLEP, military programs Increasing responsibilities as an evaluator, student advisor and counselor, or curriculum specialist Life experiences that demonstrate an ability to contribute to CWU’s commitment to inclusion and diversity Potential to mentor and educate students who will serve diverse populations Demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education for students through various activities Screening Begins: December 16, 2020 For more information and to apply please visit https://careers.cwu.edu (Search Job ID 3821).
