RN or LPN Unit Manager Skilled Nursing

This is a Contract position in Lake Forest Park, WA posted November 7, 2020.

If you want to experience this great lifestyle for yourself, now’s your chance – they’re seeking a new nursing Unit Manager with either an RN or LPN license.

This client would prefer a Registered Nurse (in WA) for the role, but an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (in WA) with stable tenure will also be considered a viable match.

The Unit Manager role:

The Unit Manager has 24-hour responsibility for assigned care unit to include all resident care services and 24-hour staffing coverage. The UM coordinates with interdisciplinary team and Director of Nursing to maintain effective teamwork to provide quality care. The hours for the UM will primarily be Monday-through-Friday on the day shift, with flexibility so as to meet varied floor needs.

  • Responsible for staff hiring, training, performance evaluations, corrective and disciplinary actions.
  • Provides overall leadership, direction and supervision to teams on the floor (s).
  • Works alongside team members to promote a team effort and maintain the highest quality resident service.
  • Delegates and assigns duties as appropriate and necessary.
  • Ensures daily observation and assessment of each resident. Directs and participates in resident care. Responsible for ensuring all aspects of the care plan are properly implemented.
  • Actively supports the entire nursing staff where assistance is needed.
  • Maintains open communications daily with the Director of Nursing Services on the status of all residents and staff.
  • Leads the unit staff by ensuring proper orientation and training, timely performance reviews, and counseling/discipline on performance concerns.
  • Works in conjunction with the Director of Nursing Services in completing the unit licensed staff annual performance evaluations. Works in conjunction with the unit nurse in completing the NAC reviews.
  • Integrates and supports the assessment, planning, and implementation of the admission, transfer and discharge process.
  • Serves as a role model and provides leadership in problem solving among unit staff. Creates and promotes an atmosphere of respect, and personal integrity and team work.
  • Ensures facility policies and procedures are followed.
  • Assures quality of care through completion of unit reports and assessments in care related areas such as infections, psychotropic (including AIMS reports), skin issues, weight reports and behavior issues.
  • Reviews, logs and completes the resident incident reports and provides copy to the Director of Nursing.
  • Coordinates follow through of the medical records process.
  • Monitor the utility and medication room for orderliness.
  • Promotes effective communication between the nursing staff, interdisciplinary staff, residents and families that demonstrates respect and cooperation.
  • Maintains a unit environment of safe work practices as a guide to quality resident care.
  • Attends care planning conferences.

  • Ensures follow-through on dietary and pharmacy reviews, incident reports.
  • Participates in continuing education programs to maintain current license and upgrades nursing skills and knowledge of current trends and standards in LTC.
  • Attends weekly meetings with Director of Nursing Services.
  • Assists in the organization of company-sponsored events, activities, and functions.
  • Performs special projects as assigned by the DNS.
  • Promote the Mission, Vision, and Values of the SNF in all areas of responsibility.
  • Other duties as assigned or may be necessary in an organization having overlapping roles and responsibilities.
