Senior Utility Analytics Consultant

nn nn Cadeo is seeking a consultant to support research projects in energy efficiency and distributed energy resources for utilities and government agencies.

We are looking for an analytical individual that balances strong technical and communication skills, and who is a collaborative problem solver that can deliver analytics-focused solutions across Cadeo’s practice areas (market research and evaluation, engineering, distributed energy resources, and data science).

nn nn Common tasks include: nn nn
·Developing work plans that chart the course of analytical work from raw data through completed deliverable.

nn nn
·Collecting data through APIs, web scraping, and extracts from various source systems.

nn nn
·Performing data management tasks to cleanse and organize complex and often-incomplete data for analysis.

nn nn
·Developing statistical or mathematical models that quantify demand impacts, energy savings, and/or adoption of technologies.

nn nn
·Summarizing findings through visualization, and nn nn
·Analyzing data – interpret data summaries, models – to solve the problem at hand.

nn nn
·Presenting approach and findings to internal and external audiences.

nn nn Regardless of the task, this role will contribute to producing high-quality, accurate deliverables that communicate actionable findings with compelling narratives and visuals.

nn nn The ideal candidate is one who tackles challenging research projects with optimism and curiosity and can apply a structured approach to complex problems where solutions are often not well-defined.

nn nn This is a full-time position located in our Portland, OR, Seattle, WA, or Washington, DC office.

Note: all Cadeo staff are currently working from home; we anticipate returning to our office when it is safe to do so.

nn nYour Qualifications:n Master’s degree in applied economics, statistics, or equivalent At least 4 years of experience in the utility sector or consulting (preferably both) Ability to balance analytical and technical skills to provide solutions to business problems Experience providing oversight to technical project work and staff.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Fluency in MS Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

At least 4 years of programming experience for analytical and data management tasks.

Relevant languages include Python, SQL, and R.

Experience with version management software and cloud-based computing preferred.

nYour Contribution:n Develop and implement research and/or analysis strategies to meet client requirements, as directed by project leadership.

Bring a pragmatic, solution-oriented approach to analytical projects across Cadeo’s practice areas.

Produce high-quality, written deliverables for clients by communicating quantitative findings as part of a compelling narrative.

Explain complex analyses to project stakeholders (technical and non-technical) using simple, concise language.

Use Excel, SQL, Python, and R to execute project work.

Task and project management: Accountable for quality of work and delivery at agreed upon timelines, Escalate issues appropriately to senior staff, Delegate and provide oversight for tasks within the broader project.
