Senior Vice President, Research and Translational Sciences

Neoleukin Therapeutics, Inc.

Neoleukin is seeking an exceptional scientific leader to join our Executive team at Neoleukin Therapeutics. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in drug development, preferably in immuno-oncology and/or inflammation and will be a proven leader with strong skills in communication, mentorship, and team building. We have a strong research team of approximately thirty FTE and world-class leadership in the field of de novo protein design, our core technology. The company is based in Seattle, Washington and is moving into a spacious new lab and headquarters, custom-built to meet our needs and represent our culture. This is an opportunity to join an exciting and growing clinical-stage company with a focus on scientific excellence and improving the lives of patients.Responsibilities* Executive Committee member, reporting to the CEO* Set the strategic agenda for Research and Translational Sciences and ensure alignment with corporate goals* Lead and inspire a talented team of researchers* Effectively communicate complex concepts and strategies to a wide variety of audiences, ranging from investors and board members to every member of our community* Provide scientific and technical leadership in critical disciplines, including Immunology, Biology, Pharmacology, Bioanalytical, and Nonclinical Sciences* Organize the department to optimize the selection and preclinical development of our pipeline programs* Collaborate with cross-functional subject matter experts, including Finance, Legal, Technical Operations, and Clinical to ensure clear and efficient decision making* Work closely with our Protein Design and Engineering team to ensure appropriate alignment and support for innovative, new therapeutic candidates with the potential to treat serious diseases* Develop scientific talent within Neoleukin, providing performance feedback, training opportunities, and exposure to new assignmentsQualifications* PhD with 15+years of relevant pharmaceutical industry experience in immunology, oncology, and/or inflammation* Exceptional leadership skills and the ability to mentor and develop strong contributors. A track record of inspiring and aligning organizations around goals and contributing as an active role model in company values* Strong motivation, attention to detail, and ability to think independently and fully integrate into a high achieving team environment* Proven history of building relationships and fostering engagement across multiple stakeholders, including the Board of Directors, senior management, operational teams, and business partners* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills* Ability to synthesize complex scientific problems into a strategy and tactics* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment* Flexibility to adapt to changing needs in real time* Ability to build strong relationships with co-workers of various backgrounds and expertise* Excitement about the vision and mission of Neoleukin TherapeuticsNeoleukin Therapeutics is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
