Technical Program Manager III

Expedia Web Services(EWS) team owns a feature-rich suite of products that support marketing technologies at Expedia Group. Our products are designed to handle hundreds of millions of requests a day and run in a real-time 24×7 environment where robustness, scalability, reliability, and high performance are critical. We are a global team with offices in Seattle, India, and China.

Our platforms support multiple channels and brands that contribute a significant amount to our company’s revenue. We report into our Retail Marketing Organization and work across all of our major lines of business We work with hundreds of external partners and drive personal touch-points and communications with millions of customers on a daily basis

We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic Technical Program Manager to own and enhance our products and related systems. This position is based in Seattle, WA.

What you’ll do:

  • You will participate in the software development lifecycle and how various agile engineering practices can be used
  • You will develop project schedules, define timeframes, budget routes, and prioritize tasks to achieve project milestones and deliver intended objectives within the agreed timeframes, and ensuring that requirements are completed
  • You will keep relevant stakeholders informed of progress toward or changes to task timing that impacts the project schedule
  • You will lead proactive risk management, working with the team to anticipate new risks and mitigation planning
  • You will coordinate bringing together different stakeholders with varied perspectives to develop solutions to issues and contribute your own suggestions
  • You will identify opportunities to re-use patterns and apply them to systems or work processes to streamline and simplify workflow.
  • You will compile data and analyze the impact of process changes
  • You will demonstrate the ability to confidently deliver on parts of the product development lifecycle
  • You will gain stakeholder trust by effectively addressing their concerns to further long-term interests
  • You will make suggestions for solutions to business process improvements taking into consideration EG’s objectives and challenges
  • You will comprehend and understand complex information (e.g., legal, operational risk, and regulatory data) and impact to the business by correctly and clearly answering routine questions
  • You will consider and understand the audience’s specific needs and comprehension level to determine the most appropriate message and delivery method, limiting or explaining technical language
  • You will communicate technical and business concepts confidently to mid-level management

Who you are:

  • Has a strong portfolio/program management experience in a professional technology organization; e-commerce website experiences a definite plus
  • Demonstrates in-depth understanding of SOA and web services and related technical platforms
  • Experience working with cloud-based platforms such as AWS
  • Experience working with various agile development methodologies such as SCRUM and Kanban
  • Demonstrates a critical understanding of functional information (e.g., legal, data/metrics, and technical information) and is able to accurately answer relevant questions
  • Experience building clear, concise, and well-structured functional material (e.g., policies & procedures, guidelines, presentations, messages) and recommends improvements to existing material
  • Communicates a compelling rationale and narrative to peers and partners
  • Demonstrates ability to effectively establish and maintain working relationships with all levels of the organization
  • Actively seeks diverse feedback on work and anticipates feedback to address it proactively
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science or e quivalent related professional experience
